Hi first of all I would like to apologise to anyone who finds this difficult to read I use voice to text as I am extremely dyslexic
Unfortunately I have a wife and son you both suffer from a progressive untreatable and incurable life shortening condition and my 22 year old son has the worst possible variation
Over the years there has been for want of a better word a collection of problems within the family that have exasperated the situation one of which is I am my wife and Sons main carer and had to give up work to care for them but a couple years again I suffered a stroke and a TIA as crazy as it sounds this actually saved my life because the way the stroke affected me was very unusual and it was only during checking why it happened that it was discovered I have a severe autoimmune condition and the damage that condition did over the following 6 months after the stroke has left me myself disabled as it turns out if I had not suffered the stroke that led to them discovering my condition I would not be here today
After seeing the genetic condition that my wife and son have affect and takeaway other members of her family over the years it's not hard to understand why I had some mental health issues I was finding life very difficult I've been a builder for many years and I have been a very outgoing person all of this had to stop so I could care for my family that in itself added to my mental health as I loved my job I traveled all over the country word in several European areas and without bragging I was good at my job and I had a good team working for me all with families to let them go and stop doing it myself I just was not prepared for spending almost 80% of my time in the house and then when I became ill that became 100% of the time from my building business I have already developed tinnitus I would expect there are many of you out there who suffer the condition and are fully aware of the damage it does to your head when it becomes permanent also a lot of people who don't have the condition do not realise that stress is something that makes tinnitus even more traumatik
So my mental health was going downhill very fast but because I felt I needed to be strong for my family I did not say anything I tried covering it up and doing all I can to hide it from them but last year purely unintentionally and I still do not know what triggered it but I had gone out to pick up my monthly prescription of tablets and I thought I would take a drive up around hell park in one of the car parks and just get some fresh air well my dog went for a run around I haven't slept for the 3 days before no I don't hardly eaten and my tinnitus was causing a massive migraine that I'd had night and day for the last couple of days so I thought I take a couple of painkillers for my head while sitting there and to this day I don't know why but I just kept taking my tablets 18 different types and a month's supply worth luckily for me I had been talking to the doctor's about how difficult I was finding things but I also told him when he asked me had I ever thought about anything suicidal and I quite honestly replied to him the yes I thought about it but as far as I'm concerned and I've had the same feeling all my life people that do that who have families are cowards so it's not something I would have considered in reality
