Over 99 percent of all species that have ever lived are extinct. Just imagine how many bizarre creatures like elephants and giraffes there used to be and how unfortunate it is to not have known them. Look at the oceans and how many weird things lurk in the depths. Such diversity must have extended to land. The worst part is, man's doing all he can do to eradicate the creatures that are left. Deforestation. Mining. Bombing. Polluting. Farming. Poaching. Whaling. Overfishing. One day sooner than later, no one's going to know what an elephant looked like, or a rhino. They'll be like sabertooth cats.
